Oral Maintenance: How to best look after your Invisalign

You got Invisalign braces because they were a subtle and effective treatment to get your perfect smile, but now you want to know how to clean them. Take a look at our tips to best look after your Invisalign.

Remove Invisalign before eating and/or drinking

Many foods and drinks can stain or discolour your Invisalign, which won’t look good when you wear them. They can also cause them to smell. It’s vital that you remove your Invisalign before eating or drinking anything except water.

Rinse them before your meal

When saliva and plaque are left to dry, they provide the perfect conditions for bacteria to grow. This bacteria smells bad and is much harder to remove once it’s dry. So, you should always rinse your Invisalign in lukewarm water before your meal.

Soak them during meals

It’s good to soak your Invisalign in special cleaning tablets, like Invisalign Cleaning Crystals. These are designed to gently remove any built-up bacteria or plaque without damaging the trays themselves.

Brush and floss your teeth

Brushing and flossing your teeth is a normal part of maintaining good dental hygiene, but they become even more important when you’re using Invisalign braces. Any leftover food or drink on your teeth can cause your Invisalign to stain and produce a bad smell and taste. Make sure to brush and floss after any snack or meal.

Brush your Invisalign

Just like your teeth, your Invisalign braces need to be brushed in order to stay in tip-top condition. Gently brush them with toothpaste to avoid any scratches and then rinse them in lukewarm water before putting them back on.

Looking after your teeth means taking good care of your Invisalign. This subtle and effective brace will only work when you clean it properly – follow our tips, so your Invisalign can keep improving your teeth.
